Over the last 2500 years Meenakshi Temple has been the lifeline of Madurai. The Meenakshi Temple with over 30000 sculptures, has played a crucial role in promoting Tamil Art, Music, Dance & Culture. In fact, the temple was the host of the third assembly of Tamil Sangam, the ancient Literature Meet.

Banana market

Madurai has a famous wholesale market for bananas featuring 16 different varieties. Beyond being a commercial hub, the market embodies the rich cultural fabric of Madurai.The walls of the shops are often stained with banana juice, adding a unique artistic touch to the market's aesthetic

Flower & Coconuts

In Madurai, coconuts and coconut flowers are significant both in local agriculture and culinary practices. The bazaar here sells both A Grade Pollachi and fresh tender coconuts.
