Fort Kochi

Fort Kochi is a melting pot of cultures, and the food reflects that. Your Kochi food walk kicks off strong in Fort Kochi with Kozhikodan halwa and Kerala banana chips at roadside stalls near Broadway.

Jew Town

A short walk brings to the area around Paradesi Synagogue. You will be surrounded by spices. While not a food to eat on the spot, the aroma of fresh spices is an experience in itself. You can check out some of the best quality pepper, cardamom, and cloves here. A highlight of this area is a refreshing homemade ginger soda, perfect for cleansing your palate.

Princess Street

This locality is one of the main hubs in Fort Kochi, lined with cafes and boutiques. We will start with Seafood from a street vendor: You'll find numerous stalls selling freshly caught and fried fish, prawns, and squid. Kulukki Sarbath is another highlight. It is a shaken lemonade with a spicy kick from green chilies and ginger. It's incredibly refreshing! We will walk to Kashi Art Cafe, known for its ambiance and delicious cakes. It is a great spot for a short break and a cup of coffee.

Mattancherry

This is where you'll get a real taste of local life. We will step into a simple-looking stalls as they often have the most authentic snacks. Some of the best dishes here are Pazham Pori or Banana Fritters. It is a classic Keralan evening snack. Ripe plantains are coated in a flour batter and deep-fried. Parippu Vada or Lentil Fritters is next in the plate. It is a savory and crunchy snack made from lentils and spices. A hot glass of Chai is the best accompaniment to your snacks.

These iconic nets are a symbol of Fort Kochi and offer a glimpse into traditional fishing practices

Vasco Dagama Square

We will walk to the open area near the Chinese Fishing Nets. Ice Gola or Shaved Ice is a perfect way to end your food walk on a sweet and cool note. Enjoy your final treat while watching the sunset over the Arabian Sea and the iconic Chinese Fishing Nets.
